Dick Spreadbury

Club President
Dick Spreadbury

Discipline

Interested in all types of fixed wing modelling and flying but specialise in jet models.

Achievements:
BMFA B Certificate (fixed wing).

Profile:

Started modelling at age 6 (47 years ago!) and quickly developed an interest in control line models – scale and aerobatic, mostly own designed – staying with this until loss of balance prevailed and radio flying took over back in 1976. Flew mainly scale aerobatic types until 1981 when I was bitten by the jet bug (ducted fan then), since when I've almost exclusively built and flown jet models.

I first joined SMAC in 1978, then had a few gap years, and have held continuous membership since 1992, serving on the Committee from 2003-2006 with responsibility for Media and also advising on safety matters. It's a privilege to be elected President of such a well thought of and prestigious club and my aim is to continue to assist the club in maintaining its excellent status, and the furtherance of our hobby through facilities it provides.
